It is the language of the maze, as its name implies. Yes, this home was specially constructed for a world traveler and polymath named Joshua, a hypothetical client. The residency explores the curation and selection of interior spaces, showcasing the heritage of a diverse range of cities and countries. As a result, there are plentiful activities going on inside, which keeps the eyes engaged. Joshua intended for it to be this way because he wants to share a tale with you. Please listen to his tale below and let me know whether you think the heavily maximalist design I went with is the best option. Both design and art are subjective.

NARRATIVE

Phileas Fogg made a bet to travel the world in 80 days & crash back home. Well, I am making a bet that I’d make you travel around the world in the next 3:15 minutes inside this residence, Labyrinth Lingo. Every space is designed catering to the needs of my hypothetical client, Joshua, a polymath & a world traveler, whose legs were permanently amputed, placing him on a wheelchair for the rest of his life due to a travel accident.

So he traveled around the world on this wheelchair without losing the traveler in him.
This Labyrinth Residence, plays a maze like game & tries to speak Joshua’s Lingo to keep him relaxed, engaged & joyous as much as he can. Walk into the space, as I explain each country chosen & each space designed as per the words & requirements of Joshua.

1. BALI - A tropical paradise. A magical blend of colorful culture, stunning gaia & friendly delights.
2. ANTARTICA - An outpost of humanity yet a hope to the scientific minds of reality.
3. TUSCAN - A land of Renaissance & Rome, weaving together art & culture with a love of life’s simplest pleasures.
4. GREECE - A land where food is not just delicious, it’s a journey through the flavours & traditions of the Mediterranean.
5. INDIA - This is a nation where a large population will give up everything a person normally aspires for – all pleasures of life, all comforts, all rights – to simply live in pursuit of what is ultimately right.
6. THAILAND - The land of smiles, the warm people, the diamond-like clear waters, bamboos & nightlife. A driving game of existence. A game of life.
7. SPAIN - The land of Anton Gaudi. The land of bio-mimicry. The epic existence of La Sagrada Familia.
8. MALDIVES - Water-world, a land embracing the flow of life, relaxation & peace.
